Rihanna Granted Three-Year Restraining Order Against Intruder

After narrowly averting disaster when a man broke into what he thought was the singer's house, Rihanna was just awarded a restraining order against the intruder.

Back in February, Steveland Barrow busted into a neighbor's home, was confronted by nearby residents, and detained until police arrived on the scene.

Shortly after the scary incident, the 24-year-old songstress was granted a temporary restraining order against the man.

According to TMZ, the judge recently issued a three-year order, requiring Barrow to stay at least 100 yards away from the "Diamonds" singer.

Tone Loc Collapses On Stage

Famed rapper/singer Tone Loc collapsed on stage during a concert last night shutting down the whole event. A concert goer got the footage of the collapse on video and that has gone viral, you can see it below.

Photo: PR Photos

While performing in my hometown of Des Moines, Iowa for a big St. Patty’s day concert Tone Loc, whose real name is Anthony Terrell Smith, suddenly collapsed on stage. TMZ is reporting that Tone suffered a seizure during the show. Apparently right after he got done singing one of his songs he just fell to the stage, leaving many wondering what the heck was going on and sending a very shocked audience home. The concert was obviously cancelled as paramedics attended to the fallen singer. It has not been confirmed that he suffered a seizure and as of now his condition is unknown.  At this time there has not been any word from his rep as to what actually happened or how he is doing right now.

This is not the first time that Tone has fallen or collapsed during a show. Back in June he collapsed during a show, his manager said the incident was due to heat exhaustion.  A couple of months later it was reported that he suffered a seizure while watching a comedy show. His manager later said that incident was due to food poisoning. I have had serious food poisoning before and I have never suffered a seizure, so I am not calling B.S. or anything but does seem a little suspicious to me.

Last night’s collapse marks the third time in about six months that Tone Loc has suffered a collapse or fall or whatever you want to call it. As his condition is still unknown you have to wonder what is really going on with the Wild Thing singer, clearly it is more than heat exhaustion. He is hoping that whatever is wrong with the singer that he gets well soon.

Meet Team Whedon: The Faces Behind 'Much Ado About Nothing'

Much Ado

By Beckett Mufson

Joss Whedon, beloved writer/director of cult hits "Firefly," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and most recently "The Avengers," is joining forces this summer with the most prolific cult author of all time: William Shakespeare. Whedon directed a strict adaptation of the classic Shakespeare rom-com "Much Ado About Nothing."

Whedon used all of the Elizabethan dialogue that Shakespeare wrote back in the 1590's, à la Baz Luhrman's "Romeo + Juliet." It's a tall order, but fear not — he called in the big guns for this ambitious sixteenth-century throwback. Whedon has assembled a loyal team of actors, kind of like the Avengers, over the last couple decades, and each of their origin stories is almost as awesome as that time the Hulk punched that Leviathan in the face.

Nathan Fillion
Throughout his acting career, Canadian-born actor Nathan Fillion has carved himself a place among the manliest charmers in history; if there was a Mount Rushmore for ladies' men, it would include Cassanova, Don Juan, Ron Burgundy, and Nathan Fillion. This reputation was turned on its head by Fillion's first collaboration with Joss Whedon in "Buffy," when he played the woman-hating, demonic yet seductive priest called Caleb. Since Caleb, Whedon has shown time and time again that he knows how to perfectly use Fillion's amicable acting style, and his role as the comedic Constable Dogberry in "Much Ado" should be no different.

Alexis Denisof
Another "Buffy" alum, Alexis Denisof first acted for Whedon as Wesley Windom Pryce, a pretentious, snooty man who could barely shoot a crossbow (a surprisingly necessary skill in "Buffy"). Luckily, he moved away from that when he migrated to Buffy spin-off series "Angel," where he became a leather-coated, gunslinging new Wesley. Denisof also landed a manly gig as Will Ferrell-esque anchorman Sandy Rivers in the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." His role as Benedick, the woman-wooing wordsmith in "Much Ado," represents the apex of this testosterone-loaded journey.

Amy Acker
Benedick's quick tongued romantic adversary, Beatrice, is played by one of Whedon's trademark power females, Amy Acker. Acker first appeared among the Whedonites in "Angel" as the mousy Winifred "Fred" Burkle, one of many girls rescued by the morally confused vampire and his crew. Fred joins Angel and friends much in the same way she joined Whedon's stock cast, becoming a key character in "Angel" and major player in his tragically cancelled mindbender, "Dollhouse." Much like Denisof, her journey with Whedon has brought her from being timid, bookish to the strong woman we'll see grace the silver screen this June.

Sean Maher
The first time Whedon worked with him, Sean Maher played "Firefly'"s Dr. Simon Tam, a young genius intent on protecting his younger, geniusier sister, River. His growth throughout the series, as he's forced to take more drastic measures to ensure River's safety, leads smoothly into his role in "Much Ado" as the villainous Don John.

Clark Gregg
Clark Gregg is a newcomer to the Whedon family, but he's hit the ground running. Within a year of his work with Whedon as Agent Phil Coulson in "The Avengers" last year, Gregg has already landed the role of Governor Leonato in "Much Ado" and a reprisal of his role as Agent Coulson in Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot later this year. Gregg's performance as the cheerful, duty-bound S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is a far cry from the jovial, yet dangerous, governor of Messina, but if Gregg plays the part well we may see a new addition to Whedon's enclave of troubadors.

Lil Wayne: Sorting Out The Facts

Rapper Lil Wayne was hospitalized at Cedar Sinai earlier this week after suffering seizures. He was eventually released, but the frightening part came Thursday when he was once again rushed to the hospital. From there, things got very confusing.

Photo: Lil Wayne
Credit: PR Photos

At one point people were publishing all kinds of conflicting reports. We went from medically induced comas, to talk of life support, and even last rites.

It seems certain outlets were hungry to break another huge celebrity death story. Not so fast.

Now we are learning that, yes, Wayne was admitted back into the hospital, but he is apparently “recovering” — not dying.

Sources apparently told TMZ that doctors put him in a coma to stabilize him, and that he was in ICU. The only part we’ve been able to prove is the intensive care part.

All of a sudden, TMZ posted an update that seems to admit they were a little quick on the trigger — but that they are confused as well.

The most recent update suggests that Wayne was having violent seizures in the hospital bed, and that people were at his bedside crying. They imply that he was suffering because of drinking too much “syrup” after his release earlier in the week.

Other outlets took a more measured approach. HuffPo confirms his hospitalization, but they also refer to a few Tweets that his friends and label mates posted.

One, sent by Birdman read “My son is in good spirit..feelin much betta…be home soon.”

Another, by rapper Mack Maine described Wayne as “alive and well.”

Finally, his PR team released a statement saying that “We can confirm Lil Wayne did have a seizure and that he is recovering.”

So there doesn’t seem to be any real reason to panic as of yet. Once all of the details are sorted out, we can hope that Wayne won’t suffer any long term effects from this episode.

Until then, don’t believe everything you read. This could be a rare victory for Old Media…

With a Little Luck: A Novel

My good friend Caprice Crane's new book, With a Little Luck, is out today. Yay, Caprice!

It's gotten great reviews:

"Crane is one of the funniest writers of popular fiction around. The dialog (inner and outer) is laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing hilarious . . . Readers will want to cross their fingers and spit while throwing salt over their shoulders if it helps Berry reach her dreams. Highly recommended."

Library Journal

"Fans of Stacy Ballis and Cara Lockwood will appreciate Crane's effortlessly funny style, which is often attempted in popular fiction but is rarely this well executed...Lighthearted and charmingly honest."

—Booklist

"[A] satisfying romantic comedy...[with] real character growth."

—Kirkus Reviews

And even better blurbs:

"Romantic, poignant and funny—this book is a lucky find for lit fans. Caprice Crane is a nimble and gifted storyteller."

—Diablo Cody, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Juno

"A hilarious romp that oozes charm and giddy fun. Caprice Crane is a true talent."

—Molly Jong-Fast, author of The Social Climber's Handbook

"Witty, fast-paced, and sheer fun. Caprice Crane is a master of dialogue. Half the time I was reading this book I was smiling, which made me look like a crazy person on the subway."

—Jancee Dunn, author of Don’t You Forget About Me and Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo?

"Absolutely charming and hilarious."

—Missy Peregrym, star of the movie Stick It and ABC's Rookie Blue

"With a Little Luck scores in humor, head, and heart. In other words, it’s a perfect trifecta."

—Karyn Bosnak, author of 20 Times a Lady (soon to be the major motion picture What's Your Number?)

(Omg, who is that last fantastic blurber?) (I meant every word of it.)

And most importantly, she has the cutest dog ever (who likes to video chat with Bev):

Anyway, check it out, buy it—it's fantastic!

Justin Bieber Goes Back To The Future At Teen Choice Awards

Futuristic performance includes a bit of 'Boyfriend' and the Big Sean-assisted 'As Long as You Love Me.'
By Jocelyn Vena

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> didn't really need any introduction at the <a href="/news/articles/1690171/no-doubt-teen-choice-awards-performance.jhtml">Teen Choice Awards</a>. Even before he took the stage, his fans were really excited for him, cheering and screaming in anticipation. In addition to winning four surfboards, he gave fans a crunchier version of his single "Boyfriend."</P><P>Dressed up in silver and black, Bieber took the stage in a futuristic setting, surrounded by dancers in silver bodysuits. But he didn't play much of "Boyfriend": The focus was on his new single, "As Long as You Love Me." Bieber popped and locked his way through the performance, and he was joined midway by rapper Big Sean, who only upped the swag factor.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber And Big Sean Get Down At Teen Choice Awards" id="vid:817411.id:1690172" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Bieber's manager Scooter Braun has made it clear that Bieber has been hitting the <a href="/news/articles/1688265/justin-bieber-after-believe.jhtml">dance studio hard for his <i>Believe</i> Tour</a>, kicking off in September, and those skills were on full display Sunday night (July 22).</P><P>During his eye-popping performance, the camera cut to a smiling Selena Gomez in the audience, who later looked a bit emotional when Bieber gave his acceptance speech. His four prizes this year bring his TCA surfboard count to a whopping 12.</P><P>"Thank you so much to all my fans," he said immediately following his performance and barely able to catch his breath after all the dancing. "I just want to say this album has meant the world to me, and I hope that it was everything you guys waited for. Carly Rae Jepsen 'Sworn To Secrecy' On Justin Bieber Duet

'I think we want to release it together at one moment,' Jepsen explains to MTV News about the collaboration for her debut album.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jepsen_carly_rae/artist.jhtml">Carly Rae Jepsen</a> has long been teasing fans about her <a href="/news/articles/1689592/carly-rae-jepsen-collaborations-justin-bieber-redfoo.jhtml">collaboration with Justin Bieber</a>. Teen Choice Awards Belong To Justin Bieber, 'Hunger Games'

Taylor Swift and 'Vampire Diaries' also score multiple awards during Sunday's show.
By Adam Graham

<P>Justin Bieber, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and the casts of "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games" are all proud owners of brand-new surfboards after coming away winners at Sunday's (July 22) <a href="/news/articles/1690174/teen-choice-awards-winners-list.jhtml">Teen Choice Awards</a>.</P><P>The 14th annual awards show was hosted by Demi Lovato and "Glee" star Kevin McHale and featured a host of multiple winners from across the entertainment landscape. It also saw <a href="/news/articles/1690173/justin-bieber-teen-choice-awards-performance.jhtml">performances by Bieber</a>, Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida and <a href="/news/articles/1690171/no-doubt-teen-choice-awards-performance.jhtml">No Doubt, who gave their first televised performance</a> of their new single "Settle Down."</P><P>Awards were voted on by fans, who cast a total of 134 million votes, Lovato reported during the show.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber And Big Sean Get Down At Teen Choice Awards" id="vid:817411.id:1690172" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Bieber, who performed a medley of "Boyfriend" and "As Long as You Love Me" &#8212; the latter featuring an assist from Big Sean &#8212; was named Choice Male Artist. "For me?" he said after being handed his surfboard trophy. He proceeded to thank his fans and said he hoped <i>Believe</i> was "everything that you guys waited for. I hope you guys are playing it over and over again, and this is just a reminder to everybody in here: Believe. Thank you," he said.</P><P>Bieber's better half, Selena Gomez, was awarded Choice Music Group along with her band, Selena Gomez &amp; the Scene. Gomez accepted on behalf of her bandmates. "This is the best birthday present ever!" said Gomez, who turned 20 on Sunday. Kevin Hart then led the crowd in a sing-along of "Happy Birthday" to the star.</P><P>Swift was named Choice Female Artist and was also given Choice Single by a Female Artist ("Eyes Open"), Choice Country Song ("Sparks Fly"), Choice Female Country Artist and Choice Movie Voice (for Audrey in "Dr. Suess' The Lorax"). The five awards brought her career total to 20 Teen Choice Awards. "This is a really, really huge award, and I'm so excited and I just feel so honored that I get to have you guys in my life," she said to her fans. "I'm so happy right now, thank you so much. And thank you to Teen Choice for giving teens a chance to vote for something, because I love getting these!"</P><P>The "Twilight" saga was given the evening's Ultimate Choice award, bringing the series total to more than 40 Teen Choice Awards. Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner accepted on the movie's behalf. Lautner called it "an extreme honor," and Pattison and Stewart gave it up to the fans, literally, by handing their surfboards over to members of the audience.</P><P>"The Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson was named Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and was quite proud of his new trophy. "I've always wanted to own my own surfboard, so now I have one. This is awesome!" he said. "The Hunger Games" was also named Choice Book and Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Hutcherson and co-star Jennifer Lawrence were given Choice Lip Lock honors.</P><P>One Direction were not on hand to accept their awards for Choice Summer Music Star: Group, Choice Music Breakout Group or Choice Love Song (for "What Makes You Beautiful"), but they sent in a humorous video of themselves receiving the surfboard award by mail.</P><P>"The Vampire Diaries" and its cast picked up a handful of awards, including Choice TV Show Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Choice TV Actor Sci-Fi/Fantasy (for Ian Somerholder), and Somerholder also won for Choice Hottie: Male. (Miley Cyrus, who wasn't on hand, won Choice Hottie: Female, along with Choice Fashion Icon: Female.) When accepting his Choice Hottie award, Somerholder thanked his fans and said he loves them all "each individually."</P><P>Zac Efron, a multiple winner for "The Lucky One" (he picked up Choice Movie Actor: Drama and Choice Movie Actor: Romance, while "The Lucky One" won Choice Movie: Drama), also thanked his fans, whom he called "the best fans in the world."</P><P>Jonah Hill gets credit for reaching outside the show's target demographic to poke fun at 82-year-old Oscar winner Christopher Plummer while picking up the Choice Movie: Comedy award for "21 Jump Street." "I got nominated for an Oscar earlier this year, and I lost to a guy named Christopher Plummer, who's an older, fantastic actor. And I'd just like to point out that he's not nominated for anything tonight. So I'm better."</P><P>Choice Comedian winner Ellen DeGeneres poked fun at the awards show's surfboard theme when picking up her award, her fourth. "What does [the surfboard] have to do with anything?" she asked.</P><P>But her frequent guests <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/10/12/nicki-minaj-super-bass-youtube/">Sophia Grace and Rosie</a> weren't complaining. The Brits were handed mini-surfboards for the title of Choice Web Star, and the YouTube sensations were beaming. "This is so brilliant!" said Sophia Grace. "This is the best thing that's ever happened!"</P><P><i>What did you think of the Teen Choice Awards? Let us know in the comments!</i></P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Demi Lovato Describes Preparing For Teen Choice Hosting Duties" id="vid:817412.id:1690172" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>

Stranger Danger

My sister recently had a talk with my four-year-old nephew Jack about strangers. Here's how it went:

SISTER: Now, Jack, if a stranger says, "Come here, I want to show you something," what do you do?

JACK: I turn around and run!

SISTER: If a stranger says, "Come here, I want to give you some candy," what do you do?

JACK: I turn around and run!

SISTER: If a stranger says, "Come here, I want to show you my puppy," what do you do?

JACK: Oh, I love puppies...

This is just a reminder to everyone in here: Believe."</P><P>"As Long as You Love Me" is the second single from Bieber's June album release. He recently shared that he would be dropping the <a href="/news/articles/1689686/justin-bieber-bloody-as-long-as-you-love-me-video.jhtml">video for the track</a>, directed by Anthony Mandler. A still from the video showed a bloodied Bieber, and Mandler's only tease so far is one tweet: "It's a story of love.... #believe."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Big Sean Keeping It 'Moving' For Justin Bieber Teen Choice Performance" id="vid:817409.id:1690172" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>
